This report tracks events taking place between mid-December 2007 until the end of January 2008.
During the period of reporting, many religious issues have come to a head and are becoming public concerns. 
Monthly Report on Religious issues will detail violence and threats made against followers of minority faiths like the Shia Islam faith and the Ahmadiyah; the arrest of Al-Qiyadah Al-Islamiyah members in many places; and other cases related to the closing of places of worship. 
Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim nation, is known as being one of the most moderate countries in terms of its adoption of Islamic practices. 
There are similarities between the radical Islamic movements in Indonesia and the Middle East.
