LeKDaS is a non-government organization focusing its attention on democratization, human rights, and the strengthening of civil society. One aspect of these efforts is working with socio-religious organizations to avoid rigid attitudes in understanding the relationships of religion to political, social, and cultural realities. This work is intended to form a society which is more empowered, democratic, and just.

In the present context, there is also a need for a flowering of studies, workshops, research, publications, and advocacy to develop a rational, critical discourse and an egalitarian culture in community and national life, based upon universal human values and acted out through strategic alliances and community organizing.
