Serikat Paguyuban Petani Qaryah Thayyibah is an organization that pays a great attention to the life of farmers and civil society. Young activists who founded the organization in 1999 are concerned with the life of farmers in Indonesia . They were also concerned with the backwardness of civil society in the country.  

To improve the life of Indonesian farmers and strengthen civil society in Indonesia the organization has drawn several agendas such as empowering farmers, developing people’s economy and conserving and creating areas of development.

The agendas are implemented into several action programs: Organizing strengthening farmers in Semarang , Boyolali, Magelang, Temanggung, Kendal and Salatiga. The organization provides training and assistance to the farmers. The organization also provides advocacy on land and agricultural policies. It also seeks to empower migrant workers.  

The Serikat has set up an alliance with other NGOs such as Perserikatan Solidaritas Perempuan, Remdec, and Sekretariat Bina Desa, YSIK, CRI, Konmawas, Walhi, Pesantren Transformatif, Yayasan Sapta Pratita, Lembaga Nusantara Lestari (Nustar), JSTS, The Jakarta Post and Percik. The Serikat relies solely on a funding agency: Hivos.  

As an organization that works on various activities, the Serikat feels that its current resources are not adequate to achieve its desired goals. The Serikat still has to struggle with basic problems such as financing, infrastructure and human resources and therefore if the organization receives funding it will use it to improve capacity building: develop infrastructure and provide training to its staffs.
